What is an Aesthetic Mindset?

I've been infinitely curious and trying to flush out this Idea of an Aesthetic Mindset, after I heard the turn of phrase on a Podcast recently.

I think this concept is the one I have been living- and have been fumbling to represent adequately with words, often calling it "Creative Living' or bungling it with the plight of the Solopreneur, which it most certainly is not exclusive to.

There are 4 'Pieces" to the Aesthetic Mindset Idea --

🦑Curiosity - A willingness to engage with others and indulge in different perspectives and interpretations of life, art + beauty. An openness to the world, and an eagerness to learn truth + acquire knowledge or be in awe

🦑 Making or Creating - time spent creating things that have never existed before

🦑 Sensory Experience - Paying deep attention to the way things look, feel, move, sound, etc

🦑 Playfulness - a willingness to turn things on end, discover, integrate + reimagine

You know that feeling when you can finally 'name' a thing that's been known to you only viscerally? 😮‍💨

We had a family gathering a few weeks ago, which devolved into a heated political debate. It was completely out of character for my family - we generally don't converse like that, much less so, in a heated way.
It was unrecognizable and full of fury.
The sad part was, before tempers ran high, I was enjoying the respectful, intellectual debate that it started as.
I could debate for hours - but always with the mindset that I'm out to discover truth, to learn, to find betterment.
Not to "win"

I think that inquisitive behaviour is a derivative of the Aesthetic Mindset.

It’s likely why I seldom find myself in any camp.
I’m not political. I’m not an activist. I don’t identify too heavily with being Italian, or being a woman, or being pro-this or anti-that….I’m just infinitely invested in Personhood.

And to lay strong claim that THIS is right or THAT is best, means I’ll miss the value of the NEXT idea that comes peeking through.
The NEXT idea might shift my view.

So, I choose to stay Curious.
